The Heavy Equipment and Truck Tech program provides the opportunity to earn national student certifications in Diesel Engines, Electronics, Brakes and Steering and Suspension through ASE©.  If you want to be set apart from other students in this field, industry certifications give you that edge.

Work with industry grade technology that our local business partners use every day and get student certified by ASE©.  This shows employers you are trained in an ASE facility and have the skills the industry is looking for in a Heavy Equipment and Truck Technology employee.  These skills allow the best students to come back as CCCTC interns or find an internship at a local business. 

ASE  Student Certification is the first step in building a career as a service professional in the automotive industry. Marking the completion of career-entry studies in automotive technology, collision repair and refinishing, or medium/heavy-duty trucks, these tests can provide the student with their first industry certification through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.

 Penn College of Technology, Universal Technical Institute, AND University of Northwestern Ohio - all have an agreement with CCCTC based on the college's requirements for curriculum, faculties, and instructor that is reviewed and renewed periodically to guarantee that students are getting the equivalent instruction at CCCTC that would be expected in class at that institution.  Credits are awarded based on that agreement.

PROFESSIONAL ADVISORY COUNSEL  By Federal and state regulations, each program has a group of local business and educational institutions that periodically meets to discuss  the program's curriculum and resources to make sure current trends in technology and skills are being taught so that students are prepared for the ever-changing career requirements for that industry.

• Engine Performance Test Equipment – analyze and repair diesel power systems
• Hydraulic System Trainers – diagnose and repair the systems that power heavy equipment
• Commercial Vehicle Lifts – safely inspect and service large trucks and equipment
• Heavy-Duty Scan Tools – communicate with truck computers and onboard systems
• Diesel Engine Trainers – learn fuel systems, emissions, and engine operation
• Air Brake Service Equipment – repair and maintain commercial braking systems
• Tire Service Equipment – mount, balance, and service heavy-duty tires
• Welding Equipment – repair and fabricate metal components
• Electrical Diagnostic Tools – test and repair complex truck electrical systems
• Transmission Service Equipment – work on heavy-duty drivetrain systems
• Hydraulic Diagnostic Tools – troubleshoot construction and agricultural equipment

In the Heavy Equipment and Truck Technology (Diesel) program, students will gain a knowledge of all phases of repair work on diesel engines, and the accessories used to power buses, ships, trucks, railroads, electric generators, farm equipment and construction machinery.  Instruction and practice are provided in troubleshooting, failure analysis, disassembly, examination, reconditioning, and replacement of parts.  The students will also repair and adjust injections systems, oil and water pumps, generators, auxiliary power units, controls, and transmissions.  The use of technical manuals, blueprints, repair orders, and a variety of hand and power tools, testing and diagnostic equipment are also studied.   Seniors disassemble, assemble and dyno test a diesel engine.  Possible ASE certifications include Diesel Engines, Brakes, and Diesel Engine Electronics.  ( www.asestudentcertification.com )
